JOHN DAY- The Northeast Oregon Forests Resource Advisory Committee will meet Feb. 15 at the Federal Building, announced Jennifer Harris, designated federal official for the committee.

The purpose of the meeting will be to provide orientation for new Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) members, set RAC priorities for the next two years, discuss RAC participation at the National Association of Counties meeting, and schedule the next meeting to review and recommend fiscal year 2006 project proposals.

An opportunity for the public to address the committee will be provided at 1 p.m.

During fiscal year 2004, the RAC recommended for approval approximately $2.2 million dollars of funding for fiscal year 2005 restoration and maintenance projects in 10 Eastern Oregon counties.

These dollars provided funding for contracts, purchase of materials and supplies and creation of jobs throughout local communities.

The committee stresses funding projects that support on-the-ground efforts and concrete materials and labor that will have a lasting affect.
