JOHN DAY – The Northeast Oregon Forest Resource Advisory Committee will meet in John Day in September to talk about projects to be funded by the reauthorization of the federal county payments act.

The Title II money is used for projects to improve forest health, infrastructure, watersheds, roadwork and stream restoration.

The John Day meeting will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at the Grant County Regional Airport.

The meeting, which is open to the public, will focus on reviewing and recommending 2013 project proposals that meet the intent of the act. There will be an opportunity for public input at 1 p.m.

It will be the fourth meeting of the group since the reauthorization of the act, according to Todd Buchholz, Heppner district ranger and designated federal official for the committee.
