Forest Service employees from Grant and Harney counties participated in the third annual Forest Work Day. The event was hosted by the Prairie City Ranger District this year. "It's a great opportunity to bring people together on the forest. It's like a family get-together," said Brooks Smith, Prairie City district ranger. Work projects included pulling noxious weeds, road clearing, litter patrol, constructing log benches, clearing trail, and habitat restoration. There was also a Dutch oven competition, a dessert contest, volleyball, horseshoes and a scavenger hunt.
