Francis Ray Davis, 85, of Spray died Oct. 21 at Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Prineville.

A memorial service and potluck luncheon is at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4 at the Spray Grange Hall.

Mr. Davis was born on Feb. 15, 1919, at Redmond born to Jess and Rene Robbins Davis. The family later moved to Winlock where he grew up.

On April 15, 1939, he married Marjorie Sams of Winlock. They lived in Winlock until June of this year when they moved to Spray.

He served in the Army during WWII. Mr. Davis had been employed as a lumber faller, retiring at the age of 73. When he was 75, he became a licensed well driller and worked at the profession for the next 10 years.

Mr. Davis was a avid hunter who liked camping and being in the outdoors.

Survivors include his wife of Spray; five children, Jean Gurrero of Portland, Wayne Davis of Heppner, Shawn Davis of Spray, Tyson Davis who is with the military and Diane Peterson of Spray; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons.

Sweeney Mortuary of Heppner is in charge of arrangements.
