JOHN DAY – The Malheur National Forest has scheduled a second public meeting – this one in Burns – on the proposed 10-year stewardship contract.

The meeting will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at the Harney County Senior Center, 17 S. Alder Ave.

It will follow a John Day meeting, set for 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at the Forest Supervisor’s Office, 431 Patterson Bridge Road, John Day.

Forest officials and specialists will be on hand at both meetings to answer questions.

Teresa Raaf, Malheur Forest supervisor, said the intent of the meetings “is to provide information and solicit input on certain aspects of the contract such as evaluation criteria."
