Get on the bus!

March 19, 35 people boarded the bus bound for Nevada. Our hostess was Kathy Smith, she poured many cups of coffee and juice and served good muffins to everyone. We made a stop in Burns at the Senior Center to pick up six more riders.

About the time we cleared the Burns' city limits there were people clamoring to play bingo. We played games until we got to McDermot, Nev., where we made a rest/lunch stop at the Say When Casino.

Back on the bus we played more bingo until we reached the Winners Casino in Winnemucca.

On Saturday we made a side trip to the Legends Casino and Wal-Mart. The weather was beautiful and warm with many of the people out walking and enjoying themselves.

Helen Bogart has been arranging and setting these trips for many years and most of us go twice a year to Winnemucca.

We boarded the bus at 11 a.m. Sunday with everyone ready to go home. The constant noise and smoke made us appreciate out quiet homes and the slower pace of life in Grant County.

We had a couple of lucky people on the trip that I heard of, they both scored well at McDermot, no others on the bus were boasting.

Our bus arrived back in John Day Sunday evening. It's good to be home.

The next Winnemucca trip is planned for Nov. 12 with 40 seats to fill.
