Grant County hails the troops

Eddy Hicks surveys a crowd of spectators from atop the Prairie City Rural Fire District fire truck in the April 12 March for the Troops parade in John Day.

JOHN DAY - The April 12 "March for the Troops" parade down Main Street, John Day included between 60-70 vehicles and more than 250 people in the parade. Organizers Janel Parker, Marianne Hancock and Erin Keerins, were very pleased with the community's participation, and may have reached their goal to have more people participating in the parade than as spectators.

"Wow!" said Keerins. "This goes to show what kind of support this community has for the troops. It goes to show how amazing Grant County is."

The outstanding parade was videotaped and will be available by May 6. For more information, call Keerins at 575-4230.

Photos from the parade are available in the Photo Gallery.
