Grant County Junior Golf gets into full swing

The Eagle/Dan Toner
LaShay Bliss, 9, of John Day, learns a proper golf stance from instructor Patch Freeman.

JOHN DAY - Sixteen young golfers received instruction from Junior Golf Coach Ron Lundbom and golf instructor Patch Freeman at the John Day Golf Course July 10-16.

It was the first year the mini-camp was held, and Lundbom hopes it will help generate more golf interest in Grant County.

"If they learn good technique and practice the right way at a young age, they'll get better and hopefully stick with it," said Lundbom.

Lundbom and Freeman focused on proper stance, grip, and swing technique during the six- day camp.
