Grant County Judge

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Grant County, Oregon, received "safety-net" revenues under the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act of 2000, PL 106-393. The Grant County Court elected to designate 15 percent of its safety-net payment for projects under Titles II and III. Of those funds, 30 percent has been allocated to "county projects" under Title III.

County projects under Category (4) of Title III include after-school forest related educational opportunities. Grant County intends to contribute Title III funding for federal fiscal year 2005 to the Grant County Training and Employment Consortium for after-school educational opportunities. This year round program will offer local youth the opportunity to participate in structured work experiences involving forestry, watershed, recreational resource and habitat enhancement projects.

The Grant County Court has opened a forty-five (45) day Public Comment Period to invite written comments from individuals wishing to provide input on this matter.

Written comments must be submitted to the Grant County Court, 201 S. Humbolt, Ste 280, Canyon City, OR 97820, by 5 pm, October 15, 2004.
