GRANT COUNTY - Grant County had an estimated October 2005 jobless rate of 7.7 percent, up from September's revised 6.3 percent. Through the first 10 months of this year, Grant County's unemployment situation has been roughly equivalent to 2004's conditions.

Total nonfarm payroll employment was off 50 in October and down 90 since the prior year. The county's over-the-year employment comparisons have been consistently negative since March.
