BAKER CITY - Grant Union's volleyball girls fought hard but dropped their match to Vale on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

The loss ended the season for the Prospectors, while Vale advanced to postseason play.

The Prospectors struggled in the first two sets, losing 16-26 and 23-25. But they rallied to win the third set 25-21 and the fourth, 25-22.

In the final set, they trailed early and couldn't recover, losing to Vale 10-15.

Coach Shae Speth said the Vale team had more experience, giving them the edge over her young Grant Union squad.

Vale went on to play Riverside, sweeping that series in three games and qualify for state playoffs.

The Nov. 3 contest was a rematch for Vale and Grant Union. The Pros defeated Vale Oct. 29.
