REDMOND – Three wrestlers from the Grant County Wrestling Club qualified for the Oregon Classic Tournament, coming up Saturday, Jan. 19.

The Grant County Wrestling club traveled to Redmond on Jan. 12 to fight for a spot in the Oregon Classic Wrestling Tournament. To advance to the tournament, they had to finish in the top three.

“The Oregon Classic Tournament is the toughest tournament for our kids,” said Cindy Dougharity.

There were six qualifying tournaments on Jan. 12 in Oregon and Washington with over 2,000 competitors fighting for their spot in the tournament.

Preston Boethin, Russell Hodge, and Grayson Jensen all qualified for the Oregon Classic.

Grant Union’s high school varsity team will also be competing in the dual tournament in Redmond.

“Our young wrestlers will be able to compete along side them, providing valuable experience and an exciting environment,” said Dougharity.
