The kid's treasure hunt was a big hit as well as the workshops, especially the predator calling, according to Grant County Fairgrounds manager and assistant, Carolyn Stout and Lisa Hunter.

The show featured about 20 vendors, the Jack O'Conner Legacy Tour and David Morris' Big Game mounts.

Sam Bell of John Day was the winner of a $100 cash prize.

Other drawing winners included: Amanda Fraker and Tony Bolman, T-shirts; Denise Porter and Ross Dale, hats; Cheryl Sherman, sweatshirt; Bob Phillips, meat hook; Clay Todd, elk summer sausage; and Gus Taveson, barbecue sauce.

Vendors and the public praised Fair manager Stout for her efforts, the combination of activities and variety of items displayed.

According to Hunter, there was an outpouring of volunteerism for this event, which helped make it a success. They also plan to schedule the event for next year, Hunter said
