PRAIRIE CITY - Camp Logan needs a new home. The new owner of the Oxbow Ranch told the Prairie City School History Club and the fifth-grade class not to hold the event at the actual historic site of Camp Logan this year, said Andy Demko, a teacher at the school, who helped organize the event.

The fourth Camp Logan historical reenactment will be held this year, but it will be at a new, yet-to-be-found location, Demko said.

The event focuses on life near the end of the Civil War at Dixie Town and Camp Logan, a military garrison established in 1865 near present-day Prairie City. Participants dress in period costumes.

Demko has portrayed Army Capt. Dudley Seward at each of the events. Another main force behind the event, Diane Lesniak, plays the owner of the saloon. Lesniak is a teacher at Prairie City School.

The Oregon School Boards Association awarded the 2004 Camp Logan Living History Days team from Prairie City School one of two statewide $500 Salute to Success Grants.
