NORTH POWDER - Christmas vacation is always a festive time of the year at Ski Anthony Lakes.

This season, the resort will be open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 15 - Jan. 1 and closed on Christmas Day.-

Resort officials said the latest word from the North Pole is the man in the red suit will be arriving at Anthony Lakes at around 11 a.m. on Dec. 24. -

Santa will be sticking around until 1 p.m., but will be heading out before the cookie decorating party that is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. in the cafe.

The Elkhorn Classic Nordic Race is back and scheduled for New Year's Eve Day, Dec. 31.

For a unique gift this holiday season, people might want to try giving an Anthony Lakes' gift certificate.

During the holiday break, buses will run from Baker City and La Grande every Saturday.-

Community Connection operates the bus from Baker City, picking up passengers at the Geiser Grand Hotel in Baker City at 7:30 a.m. at a cost of $8. This bus will stop in Haines, but passengers must contact Community Connection at (541) 523-6591 to schedule a pick up.

Paul's Bus Service picks up passengers at the Safeway store in La Grande at 7:30 a.m., also at a cost of $8. This bus will make a stop in North Powder; contact Paul's Bus Service at (541) 963-6384 for pick up.-

Paul's Bus Service will run every Saturday throughout the season, and on Dec. 22 and 29.
