Hueckman joins newspaper staff as graphic designer

Laurie Hueckman

JOHN DAY - Laurie Hueckman joins the staff at the Blue Mountain Eagle as the new graphic designer. Her background includes a position at Customer First in Eugene as marketing director, and a bachelor of fine arts in illustration from Boise State University.

Hueckman is a Grant County native and graduate of Grant Union High School. She and her two sons, Brian and Steve, live on their place between John Day and Prairie City. A daughter, Jill, lives in Eugene and attends University of Oregon.

Art is a large part of her life. The Faith Mountain Gallery in John Day presented a one-artist show of her painting and drawings this past spring, and currently she has work on display in the EOU "Connection to Place" juried show in La Grande.

Horses, cattle, ranching and rodeo are other passions she enjoys. She is involved in the promotion of the Grant County Rodeo & Cowboy Heritage Museum that is currently being created. Hueckman is working full time at the Eagle and continues part time at Dr. Virginia McMillan's dental clinic. She looks forward to working with the staff and the Eagle clientele.
