In The Military: Sgt. John R. Hendricks

John R. Hendricks, of Prairie City, joined the army reserve in January 2003, while he was still in high school as part of the early entry program. He did basic training during the summer of 2003 at Fort Jackson, S.C. He completed AIT training in the summer of 2004 at Fort Eustis, Va.

In February 2005, he went to active duty and completed more training at Fort Huachuca, Ariz., where he graduated with honors and went on to airborne school in Fort Benning, Ga. On April 1, 2006, he was advanced to rank of sergeant. He is stationed at Fort Richardson, Alaska. He is attached to Unit Bco BSTB 4-25 Airborne and is in the intelligent field, preparing for deployment to Iraq in the fall of 2007.

Hendricks is the son of Betty Ann (Boyer) Hendricks of Prairie City and Robert Hendricks of Vale. He is the grandson of Wilma Boyer of John Day.
