JOHN DAY - Tired of watching life go by? Maybe it's time to step out on an adventure of a lifetime.

Anyone interested in "venturing" is invited to an Open House 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at the John Day Church of the Nazarene, 521 East Main St.

Venturing is a co-ed Boy Scouts of America program for youth 14-20 designed to provide leadership skills combined with high adventure activities such as whitewater rafting the McKenzie, climbing Mt. Hood, or bicycling the San Juan Islands.

During the upcoming meeting, members of the local Venturing Crew No. 828 will give an overview of venturing and activities planned through the end of the year.

Youth are invited to come and learn about becoming a "venturer." The crew meets monthly on the first and third Tuesdays. All are invited to come and take the first step in developing themselves into leaders in their home, school and future lives.
