JOHN DAY - Dispatch services are under new management in Grant County. Patrolman Jeff Williams took over as the interim telecommunications supervisor for the John Day Police Department on July 21; on Aug. 1, he became the department's full-time dispatch manager.

A native of Vancouver, Wash., Williams has lived in the area for the past nine years.

"I have worked a number of jobs in this area over the years, including being employed for a time by the City of Long Creek in a maintenance position," he said.

Williams said he began his career with the John Day Police Department as a dispatcher in 1999.

"I started out in dispatch and then went to work on patrol. Now I am back dispatching once again," he said.

Williams replaces Dan Shelton who resigned his position as telecommunications supervisor in July.
