Isobel Phillips, 79, of John Day died Oct. 2 at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Driskill Memorial Chapel.

She was born Sept. 28, 1922, at Brandon, Monitoba, Canada, to Charles and Lois (McGregor) Sneath.

She was educated at Cranbrook, British Columbia, Canada, and attended the University of Montana in Missoula, Mont., where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Society.

On March 20, 1944, she married United States Air Force Master Sergeant Robert E. Phillips at Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. They were transferred to various locations before settling in 1956 at John Day, where Mr. Phillips was in charge of the Ground Observer Corps.

Mrs. Phillips was employed by the Grant County Library for 29 years, 27 as the librarian and bookmobile driver.

She spent 11 years as a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician with Grant County Ambulance. She enjoyed watching all types of sports.

Mrs. Phillips is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert "Bob" and Carol Phillips of John Day and Donald "Fritz" Phillips of John Day; sister, Jeanette Cox of Orem, Utah; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Jim; and two brothers.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Grant County Library.

Driskill Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
