JOHN DAY - A benefit dinner and live auction for Joe West is planned for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, at Trowbridge Pavilion.

Up for bid in the auction will be a seven-day, six-night stay at Bajamar, just 45 minutes south of the Mexico/California border near San Diego. The furnished four-bedroom villa has ocean vistas and is on a 27-hole golf course. It reportedly would make a great get-away for two or three couples. The vacation would need to be used by May 1, 2004. For more about Bajamar access

Other auction items recently included are: $400 value Husqvarna lawnmower, two cords firewood, backhoe work, topsoil, flight in an ultralight and a fishing weekend. A full list of auction items is available from organizer Walt Kight.

The night of the benefit, three rifles will be awarded by drawing. Tickets are now on sale - $1 each or six for $5.

A full spaghetti dinner will be served on Sept. 30. Cost is $10 adults, $5 youth 8 and older, and under 8, free.

Proceeds from this event will help defray medical costs for West.
