Jan. 3

• A hit-and-run traffic accident was reported at a location in the 300 block of Hillcrest Drive. A street sign was damaged.

• A bicycle was reported stolen from a residence on Patterson Drive.

• The telephone booth at Depot Park was reported vandalized. Information referred to the Prairie City Police Department.

• A suspicious person in a vehicle was reported at the Inshala Ranch on the Izee/Paulina Highway near milepost 19. Information referred to the Grant County Sheriff's Department. Vehicle was described as being a newer-model Dodge pickup, gray or charcoal in color.

Jan. 4

• A pit bull was reported running at large at a location in the 600 block of West Main Street. People taking care of the animal were contacted.

• A dog was reported running at large at a location in the 200 block of Northwest Charolais Heights. Owner was contacted and warned.

• A possible domestic disturbance was reported at the laundromat in Prairie City. Information referred to the Prairie City Police Department and the Grant County Sheriff's Department.

• A fight was reported at the Branding Iron Cafe. Information referred to the Prairie Police Department, Grant County Sheriff's Department, John Day Police Department and Oregon State Police.

Jan. 5

• An abandoned vehicle was reported at a location on Highway 26 near milepost 156.5. Information referred to the Grant County Sheriff's Department who contacted the owner. He ran out of gas and advised the vehicle will be removed.

• A large amount of money was reported stolen out of a purse which had been left at Chester's Thriftway.

Jan. 6

• An incident of telephonic harassment was reported at a residence in the 300 block of East Riverside Lane in Mt. Vernon. Reporting party advised this is an ongoing problem. Information referred to the Grant County Sheriff's Department.

• A domestic disturbance was reported at a location on Washington Street. Information referred to the Prairie City Police Department and the Grant County Sheriff's Department.

• A theft of services was reported at Critter Country. Information referred to the Grant County Sheriff's Department.

Jan. 7

• A tree limb was reported laying in the road on Highway 26 near Dog Creek Road.

• Part of a wheel line had reportedly blown into the road on Highway 26 between mileposts 147-148. Information referred to the Grant County Sheriff's Department.

• A cardboard box was reported laying in the road on North Canyon Boulevard near the intersection of Second Street.

Jan. 8

• An incident of harassment was reported at a residence in the 59000 block of Highway 26.

• A dog was reported running at large chasing vehicles and deer at a location in the 100 block of Valley View Drive. Owner of animal contacted regarding the problem.

• A suspicious vehicle was reported parked at the cemetery. Driver and passenger in vehicle contacted, no problems encountered.

• A suspicious vehicle was reported parked at the Dayville School. Unfounded, vehicle belonged to maintenance workers.

Jan. 9

• A suspicious vehicle was reported parked on Highway 26 near milepost 166. Driver contacted, he advised he was just resting before continuing on to Baker City.

• A fight was reported at the Grubsteak Mining Company. Suspects left area and no one wanted to sign a complaint.

• An alarm was reported at Bisnett Swaggart Insurance. Unfounded. There was a large power surge at the time. Building checked, everything was secure.

• A suspicious vehicle was reported in the area of 12th and Hall Streets. Information referred to the Prairie City Police Department.

• A vehicle was reportedly being driven in a reckless manner in the Riverside Trailer Park. Vehicle is described as being a dark Ford pickup with stripes on the side in a "Z" shape. Vehicle was not located.
