Gary and Nadine Smith's 50th wedding anniversary was hosted by their children at Holliday State Park, July 10. A large crowd attended enjoying visiting and delicious food.
Monday, July 12, macaroni, cheese ham casserole was served by the Site Council and furnished by Valley View Assisted Living. Don Porter led the flag salute and Ivan Porfily asked the blessing. Marj Porfily was wished a happy birthday.
Len's certificate was awarded to Don Porter and the John Day Pharmacy certificate went to Sylvia Warrick.
Darlene Nodine Gibson furnished the entree of lasagna Thursday, July 15, in memory of George. She also hosted family and friends. Marge Wagner led the flag salute and Rev. Denny Diezel asked the blessing. United Methodist Church members served the meal. Carryle Magee was wished a happy birthday.
The Valley Bus took diners to Prairie City Senior Center for lunch on Wednesday. They reported good visiting and wonderful food.
Chester's Thriftway certificate was awarded to Maryann Osborn and the free meal went to Frieda Ratliff.
Well, how great of Dave and the visiting Marine buddies to put the Mt. Vernon horse barn in good repair. It's nice you landed in Grant County!
A memorial service was held at the Canyon City Cemetery for Harvey Ringer Wednesday, July 14. Before moving to Canyonville he was employed by the "old" Grant County Bank. His wife is the former Nana Lee Silvers. John Ringer has the true story of the Greenhorn Jail "coming" to Grant County. Please share that so the history can be placed at the Grant County Museum.
