The variety of songs performed by the Humbolt School Little Singers were enjoyed by everyone on Nov. 14. We thank director Louise Kienzle for bringing the youngsters to entertain the seniors.

Gene Brady led the flag salute and Ivan Porfily asked the blessing. Mt. Vernon Grange members served, and the entree was furnished by Grant-Baker Federal Credit Union.

Bert Miller and Eulala Herbert were wished a happy birthday. Ivan and Marge Porfily were celebrating their 57th wedding anniversary.

Tim Novak and Rollene Allen were guests of Edna Rettie. Ellie Carlton and Sister Paula Fox from Beaverton also were guests.

Gene Brady won the certificate from Chester's Thriftway, and Edna Howard, free senior meal.

Helen Bogart needs help with baking cookies beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at the center. Volunteers also are needed to work the senior center's table at the Hospital Auxiliary Bazaar on Dec. 7.

Billie Bullard was the happy winner of the $590 blackout during Nov. 13 bingo. Jim Lenz and Don Caldwell split the $30 consolation for the $250 blackout.

The John Day Senior Center will celebrate with a Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday, Nov. 21. Pot pie will be served Monday, Nov. 25.

A free Thanksgiving dinner will be served noon Thursday, Nov. 28, at the Strawberry Grange Hall in Prairie City.

The trouble with kids is that when they are not being a lump in the throat, they are being a pain in the neck.
