Personnel from Air Life of Oregon will be at the senior center Monday, Sept. 16 at 11 a.m. to talk about the services that they provide.
It was announced that the American Legion Auxiliary will be holding a Patriot Day memorial service Sept. 11 at noon at the Seventh Street Complex in recognition of those who lost their lives in the Twin Towers attacks and to honor emergency service workers.
Many items have been donated for the center's yard sale to be held on Sept. 13 and 14. Please bring items clean and pre-priced.
A few spaces are still available for the Oct. 18-20 trip to Winnemucca, Nev.
Blue Mountain TV and Cable Co. furnished the Sept. 5 senior meal of sweet and sour chicken with rice. Members of St. Thomas Episcopal Church served the meal. Arlene Oliver led the flag salute, and Tom Switzer offered the blessing.
We wished a happy 15th wedding anniversary to Fred and Linda Stoltz.
Florence Silvers was awarded a Chester's Thriftway certificate, and Doris Kelsay received the free senior meal.
Helen Bogart and Thelma Temple decorated the John Day Senior Center's tables in red, white and blue in honor of Patriot Day for the Sept. 9 meal.
Colleen Relling led the flag salute, and Pastor Duane Cheadle asked the blessing.
A small group enjoyed spaghetti served by Valley View Assisted Living. The Site Council furnished the entree.
Bob Wiley won the John Day Pharmacy certificate, and Lorraine Shafer received the Len's Drug certificate.
Bingo winners Sept. 4 were Cindy Webb and Katrina Lindley who split $50.
Liz Hunt won $30 of the $500 jackpot. Cindy Conner and Carolyn Caldwell were callers.
Stuffed cabbage will be served at the center on Thursday, Sept. 12 and taco salad on Monday, Sept. 16.
