A delicious ham dinner was served on April 17 with the entree furnished by Helen Bogart in memory of her late husband, Ken.

Diane Sweek accompanied Duane Cheadle, who sang two songs commemorating Easter.

There were many Easter bonnets in the parade, and it was decided that all were winners. Ladies of the First Christian Church made many hats to share.

Margie Wagner led the flag salute and Bob Willey asked the blessing. Harvey Sweek won the free meal and Ella Baucum received the certificate from Chester's Thriftway.

Harley McGetrick brought a guest, Kate Jordan, who was a first-timer.

During April 16 bingo. Beverly Newton and Edna Rettie each won $15 consolation from the $580 blackout. Vickie Larkin received $30 consolation for the $250 blackout. Callers were Don Caldwell and Jim Lenz. Bingo is played at the center each Wednesday beginning at 6:45 p.m.

The April 21 meal of chicken and noodles was served by Bible Way Community Church members.

Betty Retherford asked the blessing and Lorraine Shafer led the flag salute. We received a little humor from Carryl Magee, who read a story about a new hat.

Marge Porfily won the certificate from John Day Pharmacy and Deda Porter, Len's Drug.

Senior citizens are reminded about the 55 Alive driver refresher course to be held April 29-30 at the John Day Senior Center. Cost is $10. If you plan to attend, call 575-1825.

Stew will be served on Thursday, April 24; soup and sandwiches on Monday, April 28.
