JOHN DAY - On Monday, Oct. 4, we had chili, tater tots, salad, crackers and cookies. The servers were members of Blue Mountain Hospital Auxiliary, plus one husband.

Bob McCauley led the flag salute, and Bert Kruse gave the blessing. Winning the certificate from Len's Drug Store was Bert Kruse.

Attending dinner today were Mike McCurdy and friends. Mike has been cleaning the floors here at the Center, so we gave him a big "thank you." His work is volunteer, so that makes it even nicer for us.

On Thursday, Oct. 7, we enjoyed good lasagna, served with garlic bread, green salad, boiled squash and brownies for dessert. The entree was furnished by Bonnie and Boyd Britton. Bonnie attended with a couple of their employees.

The servers were members of St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Dennis Reynolds led the flag salute, and Billy Drinkwater gave the blessing.

The certificate from Chester's Thriftway was won by Rita West, and Jean Kline won the free meal ticket.

Rita had a group of "girls" as her guests: a granddaughter, a great-granddaughter and two great-great-granddaughters.

There will be a safe driving course here at the Senior Center on Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 19 and 20. Ron Dowse is the instructor; there's a sign-up sheet for those who wish to attend.

The menu for Thursday, Oct. 14, will be baked salmon, rice, green salad, rolls and birthday cake. Monday, Oct. 18, will be "cook's choice," which is always good, especially when it is biscuits and gravy. But we never know what we are having until they serve us.

The rain is very welcome, too. It looks like our summer weather is over.

Smile - Maybe people should swap problems. Everyone, it seems, knows how to solve the other guy's.
