JOHN DAY - On Monday, Feb. 1, we enjoyed the homemade pizza our cooks prepared for us, salad, and cookies for dessert.
The servers were members of Blue Mountain Hospital Auxiliary. Our entree was furnished by Valley View Assisted Living Facility.
Mary Jones led us in the flag salute and Bert Kruse gave the blessing. Eula Thompson won the certificate from Len's Drug.
On Thursday, Feb. 4, we were served a very good beef Stroganoff with noodles, green salad, hot rolls, and pudding for dessert. The entree was furnished by Iron Triangle Logging. The servers were members of St. Thomas Episcopal Church.
Helen Bogart led the flag salute and Billy Drinkwater gave the blessing. The certificate from Chester's Thriftway was awarded to Marie Strawn, and Carrie Neely won the free meal ticket.
I wish to tell everyone about another couple who have volunteered a lot of help to the Center: Fred and Linda Stoltz take care of the plants alongside the building and Linda has landscaped the back entrance with some great plants, etc. Linda also helps in the kitchen after dinner with doing the dishes.
The dining room and kitchen are rented out to individuals and groups frequently and this helps with the financial picture at the Center. Unfortunately, some people like a "souvenir" of their meal. The result is we have come up short on a variety of kitchen utensils. So if you have any of said items, we would appreciate their return.
The menu for Thursday, Feb. 11, will be chicken, au gratin potatoes, veggies, salad, rolls and birthday cake. On Monday, Feb. 15, it will be taco time. And on Thursday, Feb. 18, we will have hamburger steak, potatoes, gravy, vegetables, salad and punch bars.
