JOHN DAY - We enjoyed a meal of soup and sandwiches on Monday, Nov. 23. The servers were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Jolene Floyd led the flag salute and Billy Drinkwater gave the blessing. Karen Barrietua won the certificate for a free meal and Mary Lambeth received the certificate from Len's Drug.

We have a great drawing for a Christmas fund-raiser. The items include a box or basket of assorted "treasures" (great to have or pass on as Christmas gifts), a wooden wall coat hanger (made by Jim Magee), a lovely lighted angel and a four-slice toaster.

We also are collecting food for the Grant County Food Bank, so please bring a can or carton of something to help the less fortunate.

Since we are closed for Thanksgiving Day, the next meal will be pizza on Monday, Nov. 30; a beef entree is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 3.

Note: The Eagle's other senior reports will return next week, after a Thanksgiving break.
