SENECA – With a quick hop off of Highway 395 between Seneca and John Day, visitors will find Swick Old Growth Interpretive Site.

Located in an old growth ponderosa pine stand 9 miles north of Seneca and 17 miles south of John Day, the area includes a barrier-free paved trail, about one mile long, with interpretive signs.

Visitors can look for deer, birds and other wildlife that make their home here. A parking lot, picnic table and clean restroom make this stop an enjoyable one.

To find the Swick site, look for the sign and turnoff on the east side of Highway 395, near the Izee/Paulina Highway junction.
