CANYON CITY – Youth were “hoofing it” throughout Canyon City June 1 during the Grant County Safe Communities Coalition’s annual Scavenger Hunt and Barbecue.

This year a special addition to the fun included a MOsley WOtta concert. The Bend band performed experimental, hip-hop and indie music at the city park.

Patrol Sergeant Richard Gray of the John Day Police Department and Kara Kohfield-Hilton, a Blue Mountain Hospital paramedic, started the event with safety reminders.

First-place winners each received an iPod Nano: Rayne Houser, Stephanie Croghan, Ashley Thomas and Taylor Edger. Second-place winners each received an iPod Shuffle: Tanner Walczyk, Kendall Hettinga, Emma Hettinga, Jamie Walczyk. Third-place winners were each awarded a $25 iTunes gift certificate: Dalton Reimers, Jordan Ackerman, Lane Williams and Kody Nelson.
