LONG CREEK - Following the boys down the winning road, the Long Creek Lady Mountaineers basketball team picked up a pair of TriCo League victories beating Ukiah 29-16 at home Jan. 10 and thumping Huntington 37-15 on the road Jan. 14.
In between, Harper pulled out a 38-28 win over the Lady Mountaineers Jan. 13.
Against Ukiah, April Drew hit for 12 points and Becky Born had 11.
In the first of games on the road, Harper put on a press that hurt the Long Creek ladies early in the game.
The Mountaineers fell behind 12-4 to open the game but gave the Hornets a battle the rest of the way.
"They pressed us and it took a little time for us to get squared away with it," Long Creek statistician Myla Corley said.
Born scored 18 points and Drew had 10 against Harper.
In Saturday's matchup against Huntington, the one-two punch of Drew and Born came through once again.
Drew had 19 points and Born scored 14 as the Mountaineers held the Locomotives to just two points in the first quarter to take a comfortable 14-2 lead.
Long Creek (2-8) returns to action Jan. 20 at Prairie City.
The Long Creek boys also notched their second win of the season Jan. 13 dropping Harper 64-43 behind a 25-point performance from Craig Hunt and 20 more from James Norris.
Norris also had a big game scoring 34 points in an 81-75 loss to Ukiah Jan 10.
The long road trip caught up with the Mountaineers and Huntington pounded the Long Creek boys 70-27.
Hunt was the only player in double figures with 10 points.
