Public hearing to address Appeal ACC-00-04, filed by Mitchel and Patricia Fielding. This action appeals the Planning Commission's decision on COM-00-06, a complaint filed by the City of Granite against Mitchel and Patricia Fielding.

Persons or parties interested or concerned with this subject matter may appear in person before the Grant County Court on Sept. 18, 2002, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the Grant County Courthouse, County Court Room, 201 S. On Sept. 5, 2002, Acting Malheur National Forest Supervisor Roger W. Williams signed a decision to implement Alternative 3 of the W2 Project revised Environmental Assessment of May 2002. This decision allows harvest of 10,000 to 15,000 hundred cubic feet (5,000 to 7,000 thousand board feet) of white/grand fir, ponderosa pine, Douglas-fir, and lodgepole pine on 1,994 acres, 1.1 miles of temporary access, 2,497 acres of precommercial tinning, treatment of harvest and precommercial thinning slash, 1.4 miles of road reconstruction, 15.4 miles of road closure, 0.2 miles of road decommissioning, and replacement of a culvert.

The Decision Notice, finding of No Significant Impact, and Comment appendix are available for public review at the Emigrant Creek Ranger District office, Hines, Oregon, and the Malheur National Forest Supervisor's office, John Day, Oregon. Copies are available on request. It will also be available on the internet at www.fs.fed.us/r6/malheur under "Planning Documents".

The decision is subject to appeal pursuant to Forest Service regulations 36 CFR 215.7. Any written appeal must be postmarked or received by the Appeal Deciding Officer, Regional Forester, ATTN: 1570 APPEALS, P. O. Box 3623, Portland, OR 97208-3623 within 45 days of the date of this notice. Appeals must meet the contend requirements of 36 CFR 215.14.
