Legion honors Bauer and Patt

Wilma bauer and Richard Patt

Wilma Bauer of Mt. Vernon has been selected as the American Legion Auxiliary's Member of the Year.

For many years, she served as community service chairman, organized all funeral dinners for families of the organization, helped spread the word about sickness and bereavement and has been a faithful worker at the American Legion/ Auxiliary hamburger stand.

Wilma has been active in the Senior Center, having served on the Hall Board, Trust Fund and is the weekly reporter of senior news. She has also been an active member of the Mt. Vernon Grange 659.

Richard Patt, also of Mt. Vernon, and vice-commander of Ellis Tracy Post 77 of the American Legion has been chosen as Legionnaire of the Year.

In their honor, a potluck dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, May 14, at the Alec Gay American Legion Hall on Dayton Street in John Day. Members and friends are encouraged to attend.
