Lela N. Mansfield, 89, of Prairie City died Sept. 18.

She was born Jan. 19, 1913, at Folsom, La., to Leonard and Noreen (Lee) Reid.

She was raised in southern Louisiana and attended Hillcrest Elementary at Loranger, La., through the seventh grade.

She married and was a housewife, but later divorced.

In 1990, she moved to Prairie City and resided at son Russ Mansfield's R & M Adult Foster Home.

Mrs. Mansfield is survived by four sons, Earl Mansfield of Denton, Mont., Anthony Mansfield of Meridian, Miss., and Russ Mansfield and Shelby Mansfield of Prairie City; daughter, Zane Marie Mansfield of Bastrop, La.; brothers, Alvin Reid and Floyd Reid; sisters Lola Chauvin and Ruby Fletcher; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at Driskill Memorial Chapel. A graveside service officiated by the Rev. A.M. Mansfield and the Rev. Albert Reid Jr. will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at Prairie City Cemetery.
