To the Editor:

Come November, we as Grant County citizens will exercise our right to vote. In the local race for county sheriff we have two candidates, the incumbent and his opponent.

If the citizens of Grant County research the facts, the choice is quite clear. The drive to remove the sheriff is funded and driven by the same people that elected a previous district attorney Lee Carter. A grave mistake at best.

Glenn Palmer is the only choice with experience in not only budget and staffing, but the very core beliefs of Grant County.

Join me. Vote Glenn Palmer our sheriff, not an extension of Salem.

To the Editor:

Last Saturday, at the farmer's market in the parking lot at Chester's Thriftway, an older gentleman sat behind a table with Obama campaign material offered. I asked him just why it was that Barack Hussein Obama Jr., the Democratic presidential hopeful, was not patriotic. He has been seen by millions of American people, standing with his hands dangling to his side while others stand with hands over their hearts while the national anthem is played.

There are people all over this county and country who lean toward him. Could they explain why they support someone to be leader of the greatest nation in the free world who does not respect our symbol of freedom. With that goes, I feel, a disrespect for those who serve and some who have bled and even died to preserve that freedom.
