I recently read in the Blue Mountain Eagle that Dennis Reynolds has decided not to seek re-election as Grant County Judge when his current term expires at the end of the year. It is my sincere hope that Judge Reynolds will reconsider his decision.
I formerly ran a state government agency. For the past 35 years I have interacted with many local, state and federal officials. Judge Reynolds is one of the best public servants I've ever encountered. He has unusual intellectual depth and a great sense of humor. He can see the bigger issues affecting the public and he has the courage to address them.
Grant County is losing population. Its economy is weak. This is a critical time. The county needs a chief executive who has the insight, experience and courage to fight to retain employment and bolster the county's economy.
Judge Reynolds has the proven ability to work effectively for the common good with state and federal officials, businesses, and local citizens. It is my hope that a group of Grant County citizens will organize a Keep Judge Reynolds Committee and do its best to prevail upon Judge Reynolds to change his mind and seek re-election for the good of the county.
