SIMNASHO - As of Aug. 1, fire crews have a secure line around the entire fire, and the 13,539-acre fire is not projected to grow beyond its current boundary.
The fire is 60 percent contained, with full containment expected by 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4. A total of 678 personnel (14 Type 2 crews) are assigned to the fire with support from 62 engines, 3 dozers, 17 water tenders and one light, one medium and one heavy-lift helicopter. Because they may be needed for other fires, 12-20-person crews are being demobilized today, leaving 678 firefighters to finish the job.
At its peak, fire camp was nearly 900 strong with hundreds of tents and more than 250 vehicles parked on a 10-acre meadow west of Highway 26.
