LONG CREEK - The winter storm that swept across the region this week was particularly fierce in the Long Creek area of Grant County.

Residents dealt with intense snowfall and gusty winds that created drifts four and five feet deep.

On Thursday, Jan. 31, the conditions forced closure of Long Creek School - an unusual step in hardy Grant County.

Residents banded together to dig out, however. City officials and volunteers pooled their resources - graders, plows and snowmobiles - to try to clear the roads.
