LONG CREEK - The Long Creek Fire Department recently had all its members quit, including Fire Chief Robert Cramer, who is relocating.

The new members of the Long Creek Fire Department are Liz Hunt, Ray Stender, Dan Morrow, Heather Binger, Tony Jenkins, Joe Clark and Patty McHatton.

Approximately 15 more people have said they are interested in joining, but the department needs to know for sure, so it can officially put their names on its list. If there is a reason a person cannot physically fight fire, the department still wants you, because it needs people to handle administration, fund-raising and public relations.

The department wants at least 35 members. The first objectives are to appoint a new fire chief to replace Cramer when he relocates in June, get new members signed in and have new firefighters trained.

Because of the urgency to have firefighters trained before Cramer leaves, the department will be holding weekly meetings at 6 p.m. Wednesdays at the Fire Hall, next to City Hall. Let the department know who you would like to be appointed as the new fire chief.
