Sept. 20, 1917 - April 23, 2003

Former Grant County resident Marie Arostegui Uriarte, 85, died on April 23 in Roseburg.

A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 3, at Cloverdale Funeral Home, 1200 N. Cloverdale Road, Boise, Idaho, which was in charge of arrangements.

She was born Sept. 20, 1917, to Joseph and Maria (Telleria) Arostegui at Boise, Idaho, where she was educated and graduated from high school.

From 1950-53 she was employed at J.C. Penneys and the Idaho Statesman as a cashier, clerk and bookkeeper.

She moved to Bates in 1953 and to John Day in 1974. During those years, she worked for the U.S. Postal Service.

Mrs. Uriarte is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rosalena and Daryl Grenz of Roseburg; four grandchildren, Shannon Luckie and her husband, Bryan, Melissa Echevarria, William Grenz and David Grenz; four great-grandchildren, Megan Echevarria, Tyler Boddekar, Stephanie and Makayla Luckie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by son Frank Echevarria; husband Agustin Uriarte; four brothers: Joe, Lou, Frank and John Arostegui; and three sisters: Conchita Zabala, Rita Ugarte and Paulita Bilbao.
