Dec. 17, 1916 - April 4, 2003

Former Grant County resident Mary Maurice Williams, 86, died April 4, at Portland.

She was born Dec. 17, 1916, at Klamath Falls to Ivan and Millie (Hurlburt) Jackson. She had a brother Tyler and sisters Violet and Irene.

She was raised in small Eastern Oregon towns and graduated from high school in Monument. She spent time in Burns with her sister, Violet, and graduated from beauty school in Portland. She operated her own shop for a time.

In 1947, she married Homer E. Williams and they moved to Portland in 1954, to LaGrande in 1981, and back to Portland in 1987.

Mrs. Williams is survived by her husband; daughters, Joyce Schuezte and Linda Meisner; son, Chancey; nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A graveside service was held April 5 at Skyline Memorial Gardens in Portland.
