Massage therapist offers relief from pain

JOHN DAY - At Blue Mountain Hospital, Rosalyn Smarr offers massage therapy, focusing specifically on injuries, discomfort, pain and helping clients achieve their goals.

"It is very rewarding to be there when people find relief from pain," says Smarr.

Smarr is a 1998 Grant County high school graduate who lives in Dayville. She graduated from Central Oregon Community College with an associate's degree in massage therapy and fulfilled an internship as an aide at at COCC's exercise physiology lab. During her second year of training, she became interested in problem-solving and recovery, then furthered her expertise in specific injury treatment.

In 2001, she was certified and holds national and Oregon licenses. She's been employed in Bend at St. Charles Medical Center and the St. Charles Physical Therapy unit, and worked with hospice patients. In Grant County, in addition to her work at Blue Mountain Hospital, she has been involved with Body Fitness & Dance members. Appointments are accepted at Blue Mountain Hospital 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, and other times, including Sunday, through prior arrangements. She continues to work in Bend bimonthly.
