DUNEDIN, Fla. - Former Grant Union High School and Oregon State University baseball standout Aaron Mathews reported to the Toronto Blue Jays training camp last week for the beginning of spring training.

Mathews, who began his major league career in 2004 playing for the Auburn Doubledays in the NY-Penn Short-A League, spent last season in Michigan as a member of the Lansing Lugnuts in the Single-A Midwest League.

Mathews said he would like to play for Dunedin in the Single-A Florida State League this year or hopefully move up to Double A playing for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in the Eastern League.

Last season, Mathews hit .289 for the Lugnuts with 30 RBI and four home runs.
