MONUMENT - Voters in the City of Monument had better get out their pens.

Three council positions are open, and no one filed as an official candidate.

Monument voters will find the area on their ballots blank, and should write in the name of the persons they wish to elect, said city recorder Teri Hamilton.

"Whoever gets the most votes will be asked if they will accept the position," she said.

Governing the City of Monument are six council members, as well as a voting mayor.

The terms for three of them, as well as the mayor, are still going.

The other three have terms which begin again Jan. 1, 2011, and run through the end of 2014.

Bob Cox is currently holds one post that is open. He didn't file as an official candidate for the ballot, although he could be a write-in, noted Hamilton.

Last month, Jerry Boyer and Heather Bowlus resigned their positions on the council.
