We welcomed out-of-town visitors Helen Bogart and Linda Stoltz from John Day and Thelma Temple of Canyon City on Sept. 17. They were among the 27 diners who enjoyed beef stroganoff over noodles served with corn, our cooks' special homemade rolls and strawberry shortcake with whipped topping.

Clyde Cavender won the free meal drawing; Charlotte Howell, certificate from Chester's Thriftway.

Bingo is on the agenda for Saturday, Sept. 28, and all are invited to enjoy the evening.

Several people attended a meeting to discuss some community activities for next spring and summer. Another gathering is planned for Oct. 2. Lots of input and volunteers are needed to provide these events in Monument.

While we still have good travel weather, be sure to let the bus driver, Mardy Jensen, know of bus trips of interest. Remember that the bus travels to John Day monthly on every second Thursday for appointments, shopping and to attend the John Day senior meal.
