JOHN DAY – The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for significant snowfall in the Blue Mountains.

The watch is set for late Thursday night through Saturday afternoon, with snow accumulations of 2 to 6 inches and windy conditions that could cause some drifting.

The heaviest snowfall is expected on Friday night, especially at higher elevations. The agency forecasts snow for Long Creek, Monument, Spray, Ukiah, and in the John Day Valley.
