Myrtle L. Blakeway, 73, of Baker City died Oct. 12 at her daughter's home in Baker City.

Mrs. Blakeway was born April 21, 1929, in Homedale, Idaho, to Lloyd O. and Eva Mae (Hurst) Birge.

In 1947, she married Roderick A. Frazier. In the 1960s, they lived in Union and Wallowa counties and at Bates in Grant County. He died in 1977. Later, she married Claude Blakeway, who also preceded her in death.

She also resided at Gates then moved to Baker City in August 2002 to be near family.

Mrs. Blakeway was a member of the Eagles. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, country/western concerts, crossword puzzles and was an excellent cook.

Mrs. Blakeway is survived her children and their spouses, Georgia M. and Jack Shaffer of Elgin, Loretta Martinez of Baker City, Debbie and Rick Duckett of Elgin, and Rick and Tammie Frazier of Portland; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Wynn of Spokane, Wash., and Emma and Luke Hall of Boise, Idaho; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by son-in-law Rudy Martinez, and a grandson.

A private family service will be conducted at a later date. Memorial contributions can be directed to a charity of one's choice through Coles Funeral Home, 1950 Place St., Baker City, OR 97814.
