Lake Creek Youth Camp

Youths enjoy a bonfire during a Natural Resource Camp held at Lake Creek Youth Camp.

Natural Resource Camp, a weeklong, outdoor education summer camp for Oregon students entering seventh through ninth grade, will take place June 26-30 at Lake Creek Youth Camp in Grant County.

The camp aims to stimulate appreciation for the natural environment and teaches environmental stewardship. Participants will learn about fisheries, wildlife, fire ecology, rangeland management, timber harvests and stream morphology from a diverse group of natural resource professionals, including private contractors, permit holders, agency personnel and watershed councils. Some of this year’s activities include an early morning bird walk, stargazing, watershed simulation, macro-invertebrates course, salmon bake, fish and wildlife education, rangeland health, bat box building and bonfires.

The registration deadline is June 1. Registration forms are available at OSU Extension Offices across the state. The forms are also available online at The “4-H Summer Camps” link leads to the registration portal, which is found under the Natural Resource Camp link. Scholarships are also available.

Natural Resource Camp would not be possible without the collaborative efforts of local partnerships and volunteers.
