Former Grant County resident Norma Colleen Simmons, 80, died Sept. 30 at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center in Baker City.

She was born on Sept. 14, 1923, at Hood River to Joseph and Nell Green.- She grew up in Long Creek. She married Jack Simmons in South Carolina, then the couple moved to Fox and later to John Day.

Mrs. Simmons worked at Grant County Bank in John Day and worked at First Interstate Bank in Baker City until she retired.

She loved to read books, crochet and play bingo.-

Mrs. Simmons is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jack Simmons; two sons and daughters-in-law: Delo and Lisa Simmons, and Jeron and Charline Simmons of Baker City; two daughters and sons-in-law: Evelyn and Tony Johns of Prairie City, and Janyce and Terry Foersterling of Baker City; two sisters: Lorene Carter of La Grande, and Elouise Simmons of John Day;- and- numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Grays West & Company Pioneer Chapel was in charge of arrangements. At her request, no services are planned.
